A word against the dark arts
Drupal rocks/kicks ass but can we stop all the Ninja, Dojo, Sensei references? It is fun, yes, but I don't think it is helpful.
Ninjas are anonymous and deadly, and I think the idea of a code ninja is a bit of a turn off for most. I'm sure most people would like to be helped by a mentor, rather than a Sensei (particularly as there seems to be no real system for accreditation).
Perhaps a system to attribute mentors to new users (or group members), who would be responsible for their orientation. The main reason for signing up to Drupal.org or Drupal Groups would be to learn and improve, and I think less of the 'Drupal Rockstars' approach and some further mentor profiling may help as many may not (as they don't at drupal.org) get past the initial intimidation of posting (I certainly remember this back when I was a n00b/grasshopper). A true system for ensuring skills and knowledge are passed on is obviously the goal, which is difficult to achieve in such a wonderful amourphous mass as Drupal, as is the development of trust between those established and vested in the project and those new with valid contributions.
However, DRUPAL BUSHIDO ROCKS!!!
